The clinic offers a comprehensive assessment of your cough consisting of:


  • A full focussed medical history and examination
  • Cough severity and impact assessment
  • Breathing tests (Spirometry)
  • Exhaled Nitric Oxide measurement
  • Skin prick allergy testing*
  • Bronchial Challenge Tests*
  • Onward referral to other experts/sub-specialists as required

    *if indicated.


Standard secretarial office hours are Monday - Thursday 9am to 3pm.   Outside of these times messages can be left on voicemail or email.


Consulting times are Tuesdays (fortnightly) and Saturday mornings 10am - 1pm (monthly). Other times may available by appointemnt.


Please note that only adults 18 years or over are eligible - Dr Hawkins is not licensed to see children.

Areas of interest

Having undertaken research in patients with severe smoking related lung disease (COPD), Dr Hawkins is now mainly interested in helping patients with chronic cough and/or unexplained breathlessness.


Conditions treated include:

Dr Peter Hawkins PhD FRCP - Consultant Physician



Dr Hawkins qualified from St. George's Hospital Medical School in 1990 after which he trained in general and respiratory medicine in London. Specialist training included posts at St. George's, The Royal Brompton and a three year research fellowship at King's College Hospital which led to the award of a PhD.  


A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Royal Society of Medicine, he is also a member of the British Thoracic Society, previously serving on their Professional Standards Committee.  Dr Hawkins is a member of the European Respiratory Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
